Our Story

Hello, my name is Darren Billings, and I’m the Pastor

of Oasis Ministries in Portland Oregon.

The Oasis began in 2011 with a small core of people

and a desire, a desire to make a difference in its

community and world. Wow, what an incredible

journey it has been. As we closed out seven years of

faithful service to our city, I began to be challenged

in my heart to impact the city I love in a greater way,

to make a greater difference.

Homelessness in Portland is now becoming an

epidemic. As I drove past the situation day by day, I

felt a nudge in my heart: "You can only make a

difference by being there…" I made a gallon of

coffee and got two dozen socks and, with my son

and a friend by my side, we went into the homeless

camps.

Now we minister monthly in three cities and four

areas regularly in Oregon, loving and lifting the

hurting of our world. Together we can and are

making a difference and giving hope.
